It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Hello darlin'! I haven't updated since I began this thing.. a lot has happened in my life.

First of all, I was accepted to Florida State University on December 3rd. I was born with veins flowing with garnet and gold blood, so this is such a thrill to me. I'm still in shock I was accepted.. the average SAT score was 1350. Yikes. The class of 2013 is a smart one ;] I'm SO happy though, because my grandmother is a huge donor to the university, and I'm the first of the grandchildren to go to Florida State. I also want to pledge Kappa Delta as she did.. sororities are HUGE in my family.. as for any southern family, for my great-grandmother was also a KD at FSU, and my aunt was a Delta Zeta at FSU; my mother was a Phi Mu at Rollins College.

The only sad thing is however, the day before that, my uncle Richard passed away suddenly. He was only 55-years-old, and lived 2 houses away from me. It was very surreal, I had just seen him on Thanksgiving, and I ate Thanksgiving dinner with his 15-year-old son (my cousin), and he shared with me how the next week his father was going to teach him how to drive in his Porche, the dream of every young boy. I miss my uncle very much, he was a great man, and the biggest Florida State fan EVER. My aunt hugged me crying and said that no one would be as proud of me as Uncle Richard is, smiling down on me from heaven. God bless.

On a more positive note, I was able to attend the Carrie Underwood/ Little Big Town Concert this past Friday. I'm obsessed with country music, especially Carrie Underwood. She is just as gorgeous and talented in person, and when she waved at us, my best friend and I acted like 5-year-olds, squealing and smiling! Little Big Town was also amazing, they have PERFECT harmonies with each other. It's beautiful, and the blonde, Kimberly, who has this most darling southern accent (Georgia belle) waved at us!

Carrie!

Now to my favorite part, Christmas :). We are having Christmas Eve dinner at my house this year, so my mother is in full on panic mode. She has been doing a majority of the cleaning herself, since my sisters and I have school, and my dad is at his firm until 6 every night. When I get home from school everyday, her Kenny Chesney "All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan" cd is crankin'. The house is coming together quite lovely though, and its so nice to have everyone together at the holidays. Having a large southern family, we will have 70 people this year. Thankfully, my mother will not have to cook for such a large crowd, each person brings a dish, and we are just in charge of the main entree (turkey and ham).

What is everyone else doing for Christmas. Let me know, ya'll!

xoxo, MJR

Congratulations on getting in at FSU!!! Good things are coming your way. I am a KD and would encourage you to DEFINITELY pledge! It was the best thing I ever did in college (well, I've only been in school 3 semesters... but you know what I mean!) I'm so sorry to hear of your uncles sudden death. I know that is hard, especially with the holidays. I'm so excited I found your blog and look forward to getting to know you more :)

I was searching for KDs and found your blog! I'm a Kappa Delta alum from FSU. Did you go KD?
